CGI — VMware Administrator

About the Role:

CGI is seeking a skilled VMware Administrator to design, implement, and manage VMware environments including vSphere, vCenter, ESXi hosts, and clusters. The role includes responsibilities for capacity planning, performance tuning, and proactive monitoring to ensure high availability and business continuity in virtualized infrastructures. The administrator will also lead data center consolidation migration projects, troubleshoot complex virtualization issues, and manage patching and lifecycle processes using VMware Lifecycle Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi hosts, and clusters effectively.
  • Configure and maintain VMware vSAN and HCX as required.
  • Perform capacity planning and optimize performance for VMware infrastructure.
  • Lead and support migration projects related to data center consolidation.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to virtualization, compute, storage, and networking components.
  • Apply patches, upgrades, and maintain lifecycle management using VMware Lifecycle Manager.
  • Ensure disaster recovery, high availability, and business continuity for virtualized workloads.
  • Collaborate with storage, network, security, and application teams for smooth infrastructure operations.
  • Document technical processes, prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and facilitate knowledge transfer to junior team members.
  • Participate in on-call support and act as a subject matter expert (SME) for escalations.

Key Technical Skills:

Cisco, PowerShell, VMware ESXi, Wintel/Windows Server

Requirements:

  • Strong experience in managing VMware ESXi hosts, vSphere, and vCenter.
  • Hands-on skills in VMware vSAN and HCX configurations.
  • Expertise in PowerShell scripting for automation.
  • Knowledge of Wintel/Windows Server infrastructure.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex virtualization, storage, network, and compute issues.
  • Experience in capacity planning and lifecycle management of virtual environments.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work across teams.
